The ARCO Reading Group proposes a regular meeting among members of the ARchitecure and COmpiler research team whose goal is to discuss, compare and evaluate new avenues in any topic related with Computer Architecture.

How to organize a Reading Group

This section describes a tentative procedure that promoters should follow when opening a new Reading Group.

1. Update the wiki filling the above table and proposing an abstract.
   
2. Announce the reading group using the arco/arco-grads lists.
   
3. Wait until the attendance list reaches a subjective number of members.
   
4. Book a room in the department for the Reading Group.
   
5. E-mail other members with further information regarding the Reading Group (i.e., which papers should they read, when the Reading Group will take place, and so on).
   
6. Lead or delegate the discussion in the Reading Group.
   
7. Draw some conclusions about the read articles before closing the reading group. Those conclusions can be exposed in the ARCO Seminar.
   
   

How to subscribe to a Reading Group

This section describes a tentative procedure that members should follow when subscribing to a reading group.

1. Wait until the promoter announces the Reading Group.
   
2. Update the Attendance list in the above table with your name and/or e-mail the promoter telling him that you are interested in the Reading Group.
   
3. Wait until you receive an e-mail from the promoter with further instructions.

The aim of this Reading Group is to discuss the leading-edge proposals that appeared during 2010 in top conferences. Analyzing the most disruptive ideas proposed in 2010 will allow Reading Group members to improve its Computer Architecture background and, at the same time, draw their own impressions about which are the hot topics (and understand why are they important).

The key idea behind this Reading Group is not only to increase the own knowledge of Reading Group memberz, it is also to discover new tendencies in the area (both in terms of topic and experimental methodologies). This information may lead to other Reading Groups or new research in the ARCO group. Moreover, by pointing out the strenghts and the flaws of each paper from different points of views, attendants can improve on their own research.

Provocative opinions and active participation should be present in all the sessions. Some (few) cookies will be served during the meeting.
